This is the best preserved of the
abandoned Haida villages on the Queen Charlotte
Islands, Ninstints was declared a "World Heritage Site" by UNESCO in 1981.
Your flight lands at a former whaling station at Rose Harbour where our
experienced boat operator will provide warm cruiser suits for the boat
ride to the village site. Guided amidst the fragments of old long houses
and remaining totem poles, many of them toppled or tilted, one feels the
presence of the past.
The total trip time is approximately 5 hours, including the 2 hours return
flight to Rose Harbour, the 40 minute return boat ride to Ninstints and the
1 hour guided visit at the village site.

The abandoned Haida village of Skedans is located on the northeast shore
of Louise Island at the head of Cumshewa Inlet, backed by a high rocky cliff
and surrounded by the rich waters of Hecate Strait. The village was built on
a small peninsula facing south onto Skedans Bay, a perfect location for an
ancient nation so dependent upon resources from the sea. Though most of the
sculptures have now returned to the earth or been removed, K'uuna 'llnagaay,
as it is known to the Haida, is one of the few remaining village sites with
standing totem poles and remnants of large long houses. A Haida Watchman will
lead you on a path winding through the old village, which allows you to wander
through the site and appreciate the artistry of the poles now in varying stages
of decay.

flight and 1 hour guided visit of the village site.

Enjoy the spectacular aerial views of this unique area and relax in one
of the luxurious rock hot pools found on this island. Called Hot-Water-Island
by the Haida, Gandll K'in Gwaayaay was well known for the healing and spiritual
qualities of its natural thermal pools which have made this a sacred place for
the Haida people.
The total trip time is approximately 2.5 hours, including a 1 hour return
flight and 1 hour at Hotspring Island.
